Jersey Time

Much to the dismay of my wife, I have been getting very eager for baseball season to start again. Amidst endless rumors and speculation of Johan Santana coming to queens another thing has spurned me on. In the Manhattan Mall, where I walk through everyday to get to the subway there is a Mets store that I have been frequenting for the couple of years it has been open. But now a stupid JC Penney is moving in and kicking it and the sweet smoothie place that gave me samples every day after work out on the street. So unfortunate as this is for me buying a shirt or hat or something on the way to Shea this season, they also have been having amazing clearance sales on all of the good stuff inside 50% or more off on all the stuff that I wanted anyways. It started out small for me, just buying a nice blue hoodie and an Endy Chavez shirt, it soon got out of hand. Next time I went in I took the leap with an authentic David Wright bp jersey and a ridiculous deal on an authentic Paul LoDuca away jersey. Now LoDuca is no longer on the team and his name has been tainted with the release of the Mitchell report this winter now, but I finally have a gray road jersey and got it for the ridiculous price of $25 (these jerseys cost upwards of $240 regularly). Of course I couldn't stop there so I also got Starla a replica kids/girls Jose Reyes jersey to wear to games this summer. But my crown jewell was still waiting for me. After another week or so of constant begging my wife, she finally gave up and let me buy it. Now this one is the authentic Billy Wagner white jersey. This is one I have been wanting for a while for several reasons: One, he is one of the most dominant closers in the game, approaching 400 saves and a possible future HOF candidate. Two, he is wearing my lucky number 13, which I have always wanted on a jersey and my only other option was a Yankees A-Rod one, which is not happening. Now to complete everything, I bought the commemorative patch the players will be wearing this summer in honor of the last year of Shea Stadium, which is very important to Mets and Beatles history, of course. So I got that and Starla sewed it on for me this weekend. Now, I just have 2 more months until the first pitch is thrown. But when it is, I will be sitting there in Shea (hopefully watching Santana) with some pretty sweet gear...
