Recovery

Well the surgery went well, I went into the hospital at 10:30am and didn't leave till about 9:00pm but everything went smoothly. Now its just a matter of keeping the soreness at bay with my bottle of Oxycodone. I'm slowly restoring solids back to my diet, which is exciting. Until then, bring on the chicken soup.

Time For Reckoning

Its getting close. Only a couple of days until my inaugural surgery taking out my little gall bladder friend. I'm not really that nervous about the surgery itself, but the aftermath. It sounds like a good percentage of people especially young people recover completely normally and have no problems. Some people have a hard time eating fatty foods though, and although this will help in keeping my weight off I can't stand the thought of never eating mac and cheese or a good burger again. Only time will tell I guess.

In honor of this though we had a gall bladder going away party tonight at shake shack. I had a great double shack burger, cheese fries and a "Pie Oh My" frozen custard concrete. nothing like going out with a bang. I have pics up on my flickr. Photos here

New XM Spots

I really like these I believe new XM radio ads that have been popping up. They create a very simple but distinct feel that is fun yet sophisticated. Its also great to see someone break apart and have fun with xm's great logo. These spots were done by Lowe Worldwide. I can't find who did their logo, but it is very beautiful indeed.

Curse of the Cap

I think I have been to 10 Mets games this season so far and the mets have lost 9. Last year they won about 80% of the games I attended. I have come to the conclusion that my new cap I bought in the spring is cursed. I am going to do myself and the team a favor and buy this new one this week. I'm sorry for the pain my old cap has caused the city and the team, I hope we are still cool.

**Update: My new lucky hat has brought on a 3 game sweep of the A's including an 8-1 win Friday night with me there. It's a start.

Six Flags Over Awesome

So we finished our trip to the great state of New Jersey to go to Six Flags. It was a great time all around although a very long day. We left our apt at 6:30am and got back at about 2:00am. The zipcar went great and was easy enough, plus we got to see a random homeless woman yelling at a gas station clerk while buying a lotto ticket. The gold flash pass was great as we waited on average about 5 minutes for a ride opposed to the standard 60-90 min.

Kingda Ka ended up being not that bad, going from 0-128 mph in 3 seconds kind of puts your brain into a shock and once you realize what is going on its over. My come from behind favorite coaster though had to be Nitro, which this picture depicts after our 215 foot 80mph first drop. We ended up riding that one four times. All in all we had a total of 14 rides on the big coasters. Add to that a bunch of unhealthy food and walking for hours it all makes a pretty good Saturday.

David Wright Poker Night

Last night we went to the David Wright Foundation "Las Vegas Night" event held at Breakwater's in the South Street Seaport. My daylong obsession with the intriguing "grilling station" listed on the invite was worth the trouble alone. It featured skewered chicken, steak, salmon with scallops and very unnecessary veggies all with their own complimentary dipping sauce. Plus a bunch of semi-free roulette, craps, blackjack and poker all for charity of course.

We got the chance to meet Mets GM Omar Maniya as well as a few Mets players including rookie phenom pitcher Joe Smith and NL April pitcher of the month, John Maine. Good fun though for a Mets fan. Now if they can just jump out of their slump in time for the subway series in Yankee stadium this weekend. My wonderful friend and great printer Frank Aresta from Master Printing in Carlsdadt, NJ secured tickets for Sunday's game for myself and Suzi. Go Frank!

Kingda Ka Countdown

Ok, its only a couple of days now until I have to decide whether I am man enough to ride this thing. It goes 128 mph in 3 seconds then straight up 450 ft, that is just insane! I imagine I will be peer pressured into riding it, but something inside me says its just not natural to put yourself through something like this. of course there is nothing natural about a roller coaster period I suppose.

Now this, the Superman coaster, is something I can get behind. It's about smooth curves, gentle loops and subtle speed rather than rocketing you into a wall. Either way though, fun times at Six Flags.

Ugh

It's not been a good time for the Mets the last couple weeks. Nothing but blown chances and stranded runners. First game against the Dodgers followed a familiar pattern: starting off strong and going straight downhill. It was definitely good to see Green back, but the offense just can't come up with the hits when we need them. Having now lost 7 of the last 8, things better turn around soon or it's going to be a rough weekend coming up with the subway series and loudmouth Yankee fans. In better news, four days until six flags!!!

Applepalooza

There are a few days of the year that just stand out from the rest: Christmas, my birthday, Super Bowl Sunday, and of course Apple product announcement days. Todays wasn't really a big one, more a clarifying of old announcements than anything entirely new, but there was still some good stuff to be found. OS X Leopard is my most anticipated. I was hoping for a much sooner release, but it still looks good. I really like "Spaces" and the new desktop and dock features. Lots of good Apple trademarked eye candy plus useful "how did I get by without that before?" features.

The iPhone also looks very cool, but at $600 and having a year left on a Verizon contract its not a purchase I will soon make. Although whenever I see it in person, who knows what will happen. Apple products have a very powerful sway over me.

Dance Party: Olympiad

Everyone is already talking about this new London 2012 logo on the internet, but I wanted to see what it looked like next to what I consider a great logo. The first conveys a spirit of wonder, competition and elegance and the second makes me want to break out a glow stick. I didn't love the previous London 2012 logo that they pitched with, but it at least tried to say something about the city and the games. I can't imagine this staying around for the long term people seem to really be hating it.

Galls to the Walls

Mark your calendars. June 27th my gall bladder that I have known and loved my whole life will be removed. Some say it's progress, but I think we just can't stop and appreciate the little things anymore. Everyone, should just take a moment and tell your gall bladder how much you love it, because you never know when it will be your last chance.

Actually the more I look at them online, I'm kind of glad I'm getting rid of it. Especially with the stones in it, really gross stuff. Everyone should make an appointment and have your gall bladders removed. Do it.

Macca Attack

New Paul Mccartney Album out today. Go buy it. It sounds good. He's 64 and just keeps going. Sure, Paul is a bit rough here and there but he was a Beatle, and he's doing his best stuff in ages now. Go on, go buy it. He needs to pay Heather.

So here I am testing the posting abilities on my new blog. Who knows if I ever use it. If i do I might link it from my site. This text is just to see how it flows into place and all that. Hmmmm Mets lost today, lost the series to Arizona, hopefully we can get Beltran back soon.
